What one year group can do when it decides to

It started, as these things do, in a group chat. Someone mentioned that a student in the year below had dropped out over fees. Someone else asked how much that actually was. Within a fortnight the answer had turned into four full scholarships.

No committee, no letterhead, no fundraising campaign. Just one year group that still knew how to reach each other, and decided to.

That is the whole argument for an alumni association in one paragraph. Not sentiment: reach. When people can find each other, they turn out to be remarkably willing.
